Enter, Tooting’s best kept secret – The Gorringe Park Pub.

This isn’t your average pub, this is a pleasant little boozer filled to the brim with character; there’s a bit of everything here.

Pop in and discover the two themed rooms upstairs including The Library Room – where you can choose amongst hundreds of books to read from as you enjoy a cuppa – and The Alchemy Room (dining space meets Hogwarts potions room meets chemistry lab). Whatever your event – be it wedding reception, business meeting, theatre show or just a party for the sake of a party – there’s plenty of space to play with.

Venture downstairs instead and you’ll find a secret boutique cinema, tucked away in the pub’s cellar. Settle into a seat, some of which are actual old-school London cinema seats, or sprawl across a bean bag as you enjoy a flick. Kiddie movies in the day and grown-up favourites every night.

In terms of the wares on offer, The Gorringe Park serves up a fine selection of ales, wines and spirits alongside a food menu of scrumptious British classics from breakfast to brunch, lunch to dinner and of course, a spectacular Sunday roast with big, beautiful, fluffy Yorkies. You might even get an extra one if you’re nice to the team.

Oh, hold on! We forgot to mention the actual pub. Located on the ground floor; cosy, amazing, awesome, beautiful, quirky with sofas, tables, stools and all that jazz. There’s also a large back-garden!

Like we said, it’s Tooting’s best kept secret. Only tell who you must!

Ah, the countryside. Is there anything better?

Nestling on the bank of the Great Stour River is the Grove Ferry Pub. Here, you can ignore the rest of the world and just relax – whatever the season, there’s so much to explore you’re bound to forget your worries.

Start by saying hi to the house animals; Sam, Bilbo and Pickle the pig or Pedro the golden pheasant – you can even join in on the morning routine of collecting fresh eggs from the ‘chicks’. There’s a HUUUUUUUGE garden where they regularly soak up the sun, we suggest you join in!

Inside is a haven of food and drink; the grub is fresh, locally sourced and delicious – perfected British classics with a quirky twist or two. The Sunday roast is a speciality, so make sure you ring up and book before you pop in or you might miss out! And the drink? Well, how does lavender-infused cocktails (Grove Ferry used to be a lavender farm!), a cask ale room and delicious vino sound?

The pub is the epitome of cosy country style and there’s plenty more: a boathouse (wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries or just a big ‘ole bash…if these walls could speak!), a terrace overlooking the river, an outside bar, a BnB with six boutique bedrooms upstairs, fireplaces, cosy sofas, lots of dining space and a friendly team. If you’re staying for the weekend, you can also go kayaking, hiking on the Nature Reserve across the road or visit the nearby villages.

Like we said, is there anything better than the countryside? Ssssh, don’t tell the city folk, they’ll all come running (it’s just an hour from King’s Cross!).

Fondly nicknamed The Vic by locals, this kooky, quirky and marvellous pub offers everything you could want, and then some.

Let’s start with the normal stuff; there’s a bar (!) filled with brilliant craft, cask ales and international wines, as well as a hearty blend of mouth-watering cocktails for those days when you just want something a bit different. And the food? You won’t be disappointed. Imagine if you could put together everything you love about British food on one menu – well, The Vic has done just that and added a few little twists.

The fun doesn’t stop there. The Vic, she’s a beautiful lady and somewhat like Mona Lisa, the lady has her secrets. Upstairs you’ll find three uniquely themed dining rooms and when we say unique, we mean it – check out the kitchen room, where you’ll be having dinner as you watch the chefs work in the real kitchen. They’re chatty, so do say hi!

Explore the lady’s colourful back garden (tongue-in-cheek over here!), there’s plenty of space to lap up the sunshine in summer including Charlie’s Caravan – an actual caravan – and two roof-covered huts where you can lie down and contemplate life whilst you sip your drink of choice.

There’s also a speakeasy bar in the basement for those who fancy hankering back a little more privately.

Welcome to The Vic. She’s a real gem, this lady.
